December Meeting
This month we were on the road to visit our friends at Omega Brewing Experience, one of the few nano breweries in the area. We had the great opportunity to hear from the brewery owners after a brief business meeting.
Club Hats:
When we received the SOB club hats from the wholesaler, we realized a few imperfections in the embroidery. Because of these mistakes we sent a few of the hats back to be reworked. The fitted hats and a few of the standard baseball caps should be reworked and ready for pick up at the January Christmas party.
SOB Classifieds:
Hopefully you noticed the new section of the SOB newsletter – the SOB classifieds section. This is a resource available for all SOB members to list the items that they are selling or searching for.
We will post the classifieds section in every newsletter.

C
hristmas Party:
We love a good party, especially a Christmas party. As we have done in previous years the SOB’s will be hosting a Christmas party at Fifth Ward Brewing Co. The club will provide a
turkey for dinner along with buns, condiments, and plates. We are asking for the members to also bring a dish to pass; please see the sign up HERE to add a dish to pass. A gift exchange will be included in the party. If you bring a gift (approximately $15 or less) you will go home with a gift. Also, on the plan is a raffling of items left over from Casks and Caskets. Included in the raffle will be a one-night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn – Oshkosh. All proceeds will benefit the Oshkosh Area Food Pantry. We are planning to elect new board members for the positions of
webmaster, treasurer, and event coordinators during our Christmas party.

2020
SOB Theme:
Because we are fortunate enough to have so many local breweries, we will be continuing the theme of local breweries for the next year. We have plans to make a stop at Emprize Brewing in Menasha as well as a possible bus trip to Green Bay to discover all the hot new breweries there. Keep on the look out for what can be expected in the year to come.

C
anning:
Mike Engel has purchased a canner and is offering to bring the machine to Fifth Ward during the week to allow club members to can some of their beer. Keep your ears open on when this event will happen.

F
ond du Lac Beerfest:
At this time all positions are filled for serving at the Fond du Lac Beerfest. We will notify the
club if any spots become open.
Member Beers:
Hi Chuck – This was a heavy ale with an abundance of base malts (nearly 30 lbs.!!)
Mike – This was a special barrel aged barely wine that had gone slightly sour. A slight green
apple flavor made the beer excitingly strange.
Blake – Rye whiskey barrel aged doppelbock. Need we say more? This was one the smoothest beers of the night.

O
mega:
We were welcomed into Omega Brewing Experience with open arms. The brewery began in April of 2018 as the first brewery to ever operate in Omro. This is a special place for the brewery owners who plan to use the brewery as their retirement plan, like the name Omega suggests. Currently the brewery is open on limit hours as the owners are still employed full time. The location developed from a love and passion for homebrewing. Surprisingly enough many of the brews were not first developed as homebrews, but instead on the one barrel electric brewing system. Omega is typically brewing twice a week to keep beers on tap and roll out new beers
(like a smoking stout, Scottish ale, and milkshake IPA.) New releases can be found on the FaceBook page.
